Lindsay Buziak Homicide Investigation

spacer

On February 2, 2008, shortly after 6 pm Saanich Police officers responded to a 911 call to check on the welfare of Lindsay Buziak as she was showing a home in the 1700 block of De Sousa Place in Saanich.

A short time later a second 911 call was received from the same caller. The caller, Mr Jason Zailo, the then boyfriend of Lindsay, made a gruesome discovery in the home.

When our officers arrived on scene they were met by Mr Zailo and his friend. The officers discovered Lindsay deceased on the second floor of the home in a bedroom. She died from multiple stab wounds.

It has now been just over one year since the brutal murder of 24 year old Lindsay Buziak.

Mr Jason Zailo is not a suspect and he and his friend continue to cooperate with police investigators.

During this past weekend we saw, we read and we listened to her family tell all of us who Lindsay was – the complete Lindsay Buziak story. At age 24 she was a loving daughter, a carefree niece, a caring grandchild, a loving girlfriend, a compassionate friend and an energetic young business woman.

She is missed, most of all by her immediate family and friends but also by her co-workers. They think of her often and are all looking for answers.

The murder investigation of Lindsay remains a top priority for the Saanich Police. The men and women investigating her death have worked relentlessly during the last 12 months in pursuit of those responsible for her death.

We know she was lured to the home on De Sousa Place by a woman caller.

We know that a man and woman met her at the home.

The Saanich Police are seeking the public’s assistance in identifying and locating these two people for the murder of Lindsay Buziak:

The man is described as a Caucasian man, possibly 6’ (182 cm) tall, medium build, dark hair possibly brown, wearing a light to medium brown jacket. Over all the man was described as well dressed.

The woman is described as a Caucasian woman, 35 to 40 years of age, with shorter blonde hair. She too was well dressed.

We believe the woman looked like this:

We also believe that she was wearing a designer skirt or dress that was mostly black with a distinctive red and white pattern on it. This dress may have looked like this:

Our tip line is 250-475-4313 and Greater Victoria Crime Stoppers number is 1-800-222-8477.

We would like for anyone with information to call the Saanich Police tip line or Greater Victoria CrimeStoppers. We know that there are people out there who know something and they are just waiting for the opportune time to call – we say now is the time to call.

It is our experience that when something like this happens people are initially scared to talk, they then wait to see if anyone else will talk. As you all know we have spoken to or interviewed over 1400 people so far. We have amassed a great deal of information that we continue to process.

Every investigation relies on physical evidence and information from people.

We are looking to talk to people who may have something to share that we have yet to talk to. We are also interested in talking to people we have already spoken to who have yet to share everything they know.
