A family on Rogers Ave in Saanich is dealing with another loss after their home was broken into on December 29th. A large array of items were stolen with an enormous attached value.
The break and enter happened sometime between 12:30pm and 10:45pm. The family returned to find that many of their rooms had been entered and things stolen from within. As they compiled their list of missing items, they soon discovered that along with countless pieces of unique jewelry, their external hard drive and digital camera were gone. The financial cost runs upwards of $12,000 but that is not the real loss.
Captured and stored on the hard drive and on the memory card inside the camera was their son’s short life. He died a couple of years ago after battling cancer. Many of the pictures on the hard drive are of their son at a cancer clinic in Europe.

The thief(s) likely entered the home through a back patio door then left back through the same door. Of everything that was stolen, a bicycle pump was left in its place. Police believe this bike pump belonged to the thief.
The recovery of the property taken is of high priority to both the family and the police. To help with their return, here is a list of some of the items:
External hard drive, Western Digital, black

Nikon Cool Pix 3200 digital camera, silver, with memory card

Dell Vastro laptop computer, black
Many pieces of unique jewelry

If you have any information that can see the return of this family’s memories, please call the Saanich Police at 250-475-4321 or Greater Victoria CrimeStoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
