Eggs Falling From the Sky

Saanich Police have investigated another incident of items being thrown down upon cars from overpasses.

The latest incident happened on January 24th at 11:30pm.  Three teens were throwing eggs from the pedestrian overpass on the Trans Canada Hwy, just north of McKenzie Ave.  The eggs hit five vehicles, including two BC Transit buses.

Thankfully no one was hurt and no damage was reported on any of the vehicles.

The teens, age 18 and 19, were all located by police.  Their excuse for their behaviour was “Cause there’s nothing to do”.

Criminal charges are not being contemplated for this particular case.

This is not the first time police have responded to calls of things being thrown from overpasses.

Last week on January 19th, police took a report of a group of youths standing beside the Trans Canada Hwy throwing rocks at passing cars.  Unfortunately the youths were not located.  No vehicles were damaged in this incident.

And then on January 23rd at around 11:30pm, police got a call of three youths throwing rocks from the pedestrian overpass in the 4100 block of the Pat Bay Hwy.    Again the youths weren’t found and no vehicles were damaged.

Despite not charging the three teens in this latest file, the risks involved in throwing items at cars are significant and complaints of this nature are taken seriously.

If you see anyone throw items at passing cars, we encourage you to call police immediately.  The sooner we get the call, the greater likelihood that we will find those responsible.
