On Saturday, January 30, 2010, police received information about a possible hit and run of a teenaged boy. According to family the boy was skateboarding down Sea Ridge Drive in the 4800 block, on Thursday, January 28, at around 3pm, when he was hit or nearly hit by an unknown vehicle.

Police investigators are unable to interview the boy at this time because he is recovering from surgery in ICU.

Saanich Police Traffic Safety Unit members are investigating the cause of the injuries to the skater. They are asking for the public’s assistance in identifying the driver of a vehicle that was in the area at the time of the crash.

Investigators are looking for a blue coloured Jeep Cherokee with four doors and tinted windows.  This vehicle may have had three young people in it.  At this time police are looking to identify the driver and registered owner of the Jeep.

If there is damage to the Jeep, it would likely be on the driver's side as it is believed the skateboarder was heading downhill as the Jeep was travelling uphill.

Anyone with information about this crash or about the Jeep and it's occupants, is asked to call the Saanich Police at 250-475-4321 or Greater Victoria Crimestoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
