Guilty Plea In Domestic Violence File

spacer

Yuri Rolich pled guilty yesterday, January 26th, to charges stemming from a domestic violence incident the Saanich Police attended to.

On January 8th, officers were called to a home in the 3000 block of Harriet Road after a neighbour heard screaming and saw someone being pulled inside a home.  When members arrived, they found a 48 year old woman bound by handcuffs.  Her estranged husband, Rolich, was arrested inside the home.

Rolich was charged with a number of offences relating to this crime, to which he pled guilty to Criminal Harassment and Kidnapping.  Rolich was given to an 18 month Conditional Sentence Order followed by a 3 year Probation.   The condition of significance in this Order is that Rolich is to leave the province of British Columbia by January 31st, 2010 and may not return for the duration of both his Conditional Sentence Order and his Probation Order.

Again, the Saanich Police want to thank the neighbour who immediately called 9-1-1.  Their actions may have prevented a much more serious crime.  Police were able to respond very quickly, arriving at the home while the suspect was still there and before any further harm could come to the 48 year old woman.  We encourage and ask everyone not to hesitate in calling us if something doesn’t seem right.
