3/6 Saanich PD 2013 Alexa's Team award recipients with TSU Supervisors and Inspector

Alexa Middelaer was a 4 year old girl who was killed by an impaired driver in May 2008. The woman who killed Alexa was later convicted of impaired driving. Since that tragic incident, Alexa's parents have dedicated themselves to reducing impaired driving to spare other families from experiencing similar anguish. That is why in 2008 they helped launch Alexa's Team.

Alexa's Team is a program that recognizes police officers in B.C. for their outstanding efforts in impaired driving investigations. To be nominated to Alexa's Team, police officers must have taken at least 12 criminally impaired drivers off the road through a Criminal Code Investigation or the Immediate Roadside (IRP) administrative process.

In 2008 there were 26 members of Alexa's Team. As of 2012 there are 355 police officers from around the province on the team who have collectively processed 32,743 impaired drivers. 2013 saw 57 police officers from across Vancouver Island recognized, 12

Congratulations to this year's Alexa's Team Members  from the Saanich Police Department: Constable Michael Bainbridge, Constable Janis Carmena, Constable Jon Cawsey, Constable Bima Ribeiro, Constable Mark Kubitza and Constable Ian Ritchie.
