Police Information Checks

  • Police Information Checks (PICs) applications must be submitted in person at SPD Headquarters located at 760 Vernon Ave.
  • Hours of operation for PIC applications are Monday – Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m., excluding Statutory Holidays.
  • This service is on a first-come, first-serve basis.
  • To reduce wait times, we encourage you to download and complete a PIC before attending SPD.
  • The applicant acknowledges that Police Information Checks are only valid up to the date they are prepared. Completed checks that are not picked up within 90 days of completion will be destroyed. Applicants are responsible for all associated costs and no refunds or allowances will be made.

POLICE INFORMATION CHECKS - FOR VOLUNTEER PURPOSES

To request a police information check for volunteer purposes, you must:

  • Be a resident of Saanich; or,
  • Be volunteering for a non-profit organization that is located in Saanich (does not include unpaid practicums);
  • Have a letter from the volunteering organization on their letterhead confirming that you are volunteering;
  • A completed Police Information Check application (link above);
  • Two pieces of identification – with at least one having a photo and proof of a Saanich address.

If fingerprints are required for vulnerable sector screening, no additional fee will be required. The cost for PICs for volunteering is free of charge.

To request a police information check for employment or any other purpose, you must:

  • Be a resident of Saanich;
  • Complete Police Information Check application (link above); and,
  • Provide two pieces of identification – with at least one having a photo and proof of a Saanich address;

The prescribed fee of $70 (acceptable forms of payment include debit, credit or cheque)

If fingerprints are required for vulnerable sector screening, an additional $25 will apply.

Civilian Fingerprinting Services

We are only able to provide fingerprints for Saanich Police PIC purposes, Criminal Record Review Programs, adoptions applications and select ink fingerprint requests.

The hours for our civilian fingerprinting services are Monday – Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m., excluding Statutory Holidays. This service is on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Applicants will attend 760 Vernon Avenue and contact Front Desk Staff using the building’s intercom located at the main door. The cost for fingerprinting services is $50.
