Cops For Cancer

History

The Canadian Cancer Society’s Cops for Cancer is a partnership between the Canadian Cancer Society, municipal police officers, RCMP (including Auxiliaries and Reserves), military police and media.  Between September 22 and October 5, 2012, riders will cycle almost 1000kms from Port Alice to Victoria in the 15th annual Tour de Rock.  Since 1998, the Tour has raised more than $15 million for the Canadian Cancer Society with $1.8 million in 2007 alone!  Riders will have spent 6 months, 8,000 hours and cycled 3000km while training for the 14-day tour.  Riders raise funds and awareness for pediatric cancer research and programs that support kids with cancer, such as Camp Goodtimes.  Without your donations and support this could not be made possible.  Last  year’s Tour de Rock  had  the support of more than 60 BC communities and thousands of volunteers.  Tour de Rock was started in 1998 by Cst. Martin Pepper of the Saanich Police, whose vision was to see members of the law enforcement community raise money to help sick children.
