Home About Us Community Liaison Division Bike Squad
Bike Section

Four officers are assigned full time to this section. They work in two person teams and are trained in road safety, cycling techniques, emergency maneuvers, tactical skills, suspect contacts, the Motor Vehicle Act, stolen bikes, nutrition and injury prevention.

The bike section brings the officers and the community closer together, as the officers are more approachable than a patrol vehicle and the public seems to be less intimidated with an officer on a bike. Bike section members can also perform their duties in a manner that is not possible with a patrol vehicle such as riding through crowded areas, and around buildings and obstacles. Members can also approach criminal activity without being seen or heard and provide a quick response to calls for service.
