The Saanich Police is a leading participant in the Regional Crime Unit, which is an integrated unit established in 2008 to pro-actively target the region’s most prolific offenders.  The RCU is a partnership between local police agencies and also includes officers from the Oak Bay Police Department, Central Saanich Police Service, West Shore RCMP, and the provincial RCMP.  The Regional Crime Unit was established to enhance the capacity of local police agencies to investigate and prosecute those offenders who are responsible for a disproportionate amount of street level and property crime.  Our participation in a full-time unit dedicated to identifying repeat offenders and investigating their crimes has made a significant contribution to reduced crime and increased public safety in the capital region.
