COORDINATOR OF VOLUNTEERS - CRIME PREVENTION PROGRAMS
The Saanich Police Department is seeking an energetic, enthusiastic, innovative individual to fill the position of Coordinator of Volunteers-Crime Prevention Programs in its Community Liaison Section.
The primary responsibilities of this position include developing, delivering and maintaining crime prevention program initiatives and coordinating the recruitment, selection, and activities of our volunteers, with a significant focus on our highly successful Block Watch program made up of over 7500 Saanich homes, businesses, schools and parks.
Requirements include a degree or diploma in Human Resource Management, Project Management, Volunteer Program Management or other related field, combined with at least three years direct experience in a similar position with particular training and experience in the recruitment, training, maintenance and motivation of community volunteers.
The successful applicant will have a sound knowledge of community networks and funding sources in Greater Victoria, be willing to work flexible hours to allow for occasional evening and weekend meetings, be comfortable with speaking in front of groups, and have sound computer and administrative skills. Effective verbal and written communication skills, problem solving abilities and a customer service orientation is required.
