The outstanding leadership and spirit of cooperation demonstrated by the Ministry of Public Safety and Solicitor General, Police Services Division, the Insurance Corporation of British Columbia, and notably between the Oak Bay, Central Saanich, Saanich, Victoria police departments and the Royal Canadian Mounted Police in drafting this agreement serves as an example and encouragement for the formation of other integrated units throughout the province.

Effective April 19, 2005 Sgt. Ross Elliott and three additional Saanich Police Officers joined IRSU as the unit went fully operational in the Capital Region.
